Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Ascension St. Marys Hospital. She was 81 years old. Gladys Carol Mazzola was born on October 11, 1937, to the late Orville and Gladys Annabelle (Badgley) Cornish. She was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Carol married the love of her life, Joseph Mazzola, Jr. on September 28, 1957 in Saginaw; he survives her. She was a former member of St. Helen Catholic Church and a current member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Carol enjoyed bowling, bird watching, and was fascinated with genealogy, especially working on family trees. Above all, Carol loved and cherished her family, including her beloved Samoyed, Choo Choo. She will forever be remembered for her intellect, independence, and for always being a loving, caring and giving soul.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Joseph Mazzola, Jr. of Saginaw Township; two sons: Mike Mazzola of Saginaw Township; Mark Mazzola and his wife, Sandy, of Saginaw Township; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A private funeral service was held at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Burial took place at St. Andrew Cemetery.
