Carolyn Benson

Carolyn Benson Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Monday June 11, 2018 in Saginaw, MI. at the age of 79 years. Carolyn was born September 17, 1938 in Detroit, MI to Carroll (Cal) and Martha (Peters) Sutton. After graduation from Gross Pointe South High School, she attended Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan. She worked as a high school counselor for several years until she married Alvin G. Benson in 1967. In 1971, they moved from Birmingham, MI to Saginaw Township where she resided until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents (Cal and Martha Sutton), her husband (Alvin G. Benson), her stepson (Paul E. Benson) and son-in-law (Stefan Gerganoff). Carolyn is survived by her brother, (Ron Sutton), nephew (Jim Sutton), three stepdaughters (Christine Benson, Martha Gerganoff and Lisa Devos), son-in-law (Steven Devos), daughter-in-law (Michelle Benson), four grandchildren (Rachael Gerganoff, Nicholas Gerganoff, Lindsay Devos and Mackenzie Benson) and a great-grandson (Easton Gerganoff). Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends in Saginaw. She was an avid golfer and won several tournaments throughout the years. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and several places abroad including Greece, Australia, New Zealand and South America.
