On July 13, 2021, Carolyn Hunt was unexpectedly called to her heavenly home with our Lord.
Carolyn was born on January 10, 1944 in Saginaw, MI to Laura and Cecil Goslin. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a master’s degree in Public Health Administration. She worked in the health care field her entire career. Carolyn was the catalyst in opening the first hospital in The Villages, FL and also worked in multiple hospitals across the country as a consultant and Chief Nursing Officer, of which she gained many lifelong friends.
Carolyn was blessed with a close and loving family. She married her childhood friend, Rodney Hunt, on August 28, 1965. Together, they raised one daughter, Shawn and one son, Rodney II.
Carolyn’s true passion in life was helping others. Her solid relationship with God shined through every day. The past several years she volunteered extensively with her church, Christ Lutheran Church. She was very instrumental in leading the initiative of building a new church for the congregation. Carolyn was a nurse at heart. She was kind, generous, soft-spoken, and always had time for others. We celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her loving husband and our Lord.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Rodney, her mother Laura, father Cecil, brothers Jerry, Fred, and James, and sisters Doris, Ardis, and Shirley. She is survived by daughter Shawn Hunt, son Rodney (wife Jessica) Hunt, grandson Mathew (wife Randi-Nicole) Frost, granddaughter Sabrina Vetengle, grandson Stuart Vetengle, sister Nina Shorthouse, and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn’s funeral service will be held at WL Case Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. The showing will be 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, with Pastor Rob Schmidt officiating the funeral service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 15699 SE 80th Ave, Summerfield, FL 34491, her home of worship.
