Carolyn Sue Obendorfer of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 84 years old. Carolyn Sue Burns was born on August 23, 1940, in St. Ignace, Michigan to the late, Walter C. and Irene (St. Onge) Burns. She was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Caroyn attended and graduated from the Saginaw Business Institute. She held many different jobs throughout her life, but the role of her lifetime was to be a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Carolyn was a longtime and faithful member of Hopevale Church. She was also a member of the Sault St. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, especially taking a cruise and spending time on Mackinaw Island. Above all things, She loved her children and grandchildren – they were truly her heart, light, and soul. She will forever be remembered for her fierce independence, for selflessly helping anyone in need, for her dedication to family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are her children: Michelle Obendorfer, Keith (Jackie) Obendorfer, Lisa (Jim) Ellis, and David Obendorfer (Kristina Bullock); a daughter-in-law, Brenda Obendorfer; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mavis Brainard. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Mark W. Obendorfer and Michael D. Obendorfer; parents, Walter C. and Irene Burns; a sister, Darlene Butts.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Covenant HealthCare, especially Winnie, for all the love and care she, as well as others, provided to Carolyn and the entire family.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Sam Burke will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
