Charles "Chuck" Perry Reeder, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was 82 years old. Charles Perry Reeder, Jr. was born on March 8, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Charles Perry and Louise J. (Heise) Reeder Sr. He attended Saginaw High School and later Arthur Hill Tech, graduating with the class of 1961. Upon graduation, he began working at Eaton Manufacturing and attending college. Chuck proudly served his country in the United State Army during the Vietnam War, serving from October 19, 1966, until his honorable discharge on February 11, 1969. Following his return, he attended and graduated from Delta College and Central Michigan University where he received his bachelor's degree in education. A phenomenal basketball player and only 5ft 8in, Chuck played so well he received a scholarship at both schools. Chuck taught for one year with Saginaw Township Community Schools and then spent the next 30 years employed with Swan Valley Community Schools teaching in the high school, 7th, and 8th grade; retiring in 2003 after many years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a passionate golf coach who developed several PGA professionals over the years and coached many other high school sports. Chuck serendipitously met the love of his life, Sandy Kay Burke, while attending Webber Middle School. They reunited years later, dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 27, 2000; she survives him. What he loved the most, above all other things, was being a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck was of the Methodist Faith. An avid golfer, he enjoyed spending time golfing with his son and friends, even celebrated a dozen or so hole-in-ones. Chuck also enjoyed bowling and made "bowler of the week" countless times. When he wasn't gracing the golf course or bowling, he also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends, and going to the theater to watch plays and movies with his beloved wife, Sandy. His little piece of heaven was spending time with his grandchildren because he was often the "biggest kid in the room". He will forever be remembered for his love of family, for selflessly serving and organizing countless gathering and projects, for having a wonderful sense of humor, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Sandy K. Reeder of Saginaw; five children: James (Cheryl) Watkins of WA; Mike Paccione and his fiancée, Tammy Cramer of Saginaw; Karen Paccione of Saginaw; Brian Reeder of Perry; Kara Stamiris of Livonia; Kally (Sean) Jagodzinski of Detroit; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Sharon) Reeder of Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Chery (Tim) Geese of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Perry" and Louise Reeder; two sisters, Beverly Reeder and Janet (Stan) Budzilek.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff with Compassus Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Chuck and the family.
Honoring Chuck's wishes, no services are planned. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Disabled American Veterans.
