Charles Franklin Hise, a stalwart of fitness and a cherished member of the Saginaw community, departed this life on February 3, 2025, in his beloved hometown. Born on July 29, 1932, to the late Homer and Violet (Morgan) Hise, he embraced a life of fitness and community.
Charles's lifelong passion for health and fitness was more than a vocation; it was a calling, a way of life that he fervently shared with those around him. As the owner and operator of Four Flags Health and Racquet club, Courthouse West, and Exercise Express he became a beacon of inspiration for countless individuals on their journeys toward wellness. Under his guidance, many not only transformed their bodies but also embraced healthier living strategies that fostered lifelong habits. It was through these connections that he formed deep, abiding friendships, forever touching lives with his unwavering support and compassion.
A proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School's class of 1950, Charles harbored a determination that extended far beyond the walls of academia. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, embodying the spirit of duty and resilience that marked his character.
A man of steadfast faith, Charles found solace and community at the First Presbyterian Church in Saginaw, where all felt his kindness and warmth. His dedication to both his faith and fitness carved a path in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to meet him.
Charles leaves behind two loving daughters, Kim and her husband Hank Pletscher, Marcy and her husband Brian Chermside, three grandchildren, Henry and his wife Karley Pletscher, Charles and his wife Brittany Pletscher, and Rhy Chermside; four great grandchildren; Leighton, Silas, Reid and Jack Pletscher; half sister Nanci Hise Koski and her husband Bill; several nieces and nephews.
He is reunited in spirit with the love of his life Barbara M. Hise, his wife of 56 years, and with his parents, Homer, and Violet (Morgan) Hise, two sisters, Helen and her husband Red Wynn, Irma, and her husband Ray Wittmus, half-sister Sarah Hise. who undoubtedly welcomed him back into their embrace with open arms.
Charles' legacy lives on in every heart he touched, and in every life he changed, reminding us that health is not merely a goal, but a lifelong journey traveled together.
