Herm, Charles Saginaw, Michigan Charles Frederick Herm passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2015. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on October 17, 1939 to William and Ann Herm, the oldest of five children. He graduated from St. Mary's Cathedral Catholic High School and attended Ferris State University. Chuck was personnel manager at Sears Roebuck and Company Department Store and went on to work in many areas of retail throughout his life. Most recently, Chuck loved helping others by giving them rides to and from their various appointments and was an active member of a Gamblers Anonymous and a Cancer Support group. Surviving are his children Judy (Julius) Muller of St. Pete Beach, FL, Karen (Carl) Rothenberger of Fruitport, MI, and Nancy (John) Ablao of Portage, MI. He cherished his six granddaughters; Rachel (Brandon) Hahn, Olivia Schomaker, Maya and Meredith Ablao, Ana and Asia Rothenberger as well as one great grandson, Liam Hahn. Also surviving are Chuck's three brothers and one sister; Bob (Trish) Herm of Troy, MI, Janet Skulley of Saginaw, MI, Jim (Patti) Herm of Otsego, MI and Rich (Ann) Herm of Saginaw, MI. He also had many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends that loved him. Chuck was a passionate giver of his time and had the gift of gab. He loved people and loved to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers at football games and Tiger games. Chuck loved music, especially marching bands. He looked forward to spending time at large family gatherings such as tailgates, weddings, Christmas meals, concerts, recitals, graduations and July 4th parties. In honoring Chuck's wishes his body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical School and his cremated remains will be used in a private family remembrance. A separate memorial service is also being planned in Saginaw at a later date. Donations may be made to HealthSource of Saginaw or take a moment to "pay it forward" in some way to help others in need. The family would like to thank those at Covenant Hospital especially the staff on 7 Main in the Harrison building and the James E. Cartwright Hospice Care Center for the wonderful care they provided.
