Charles Emmett Riley of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 81 years old. Charles Emmett Riley was born on April 14, 1942, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Emmett C. and Lola M. (Cochran) Riley. He was a 1960 graduate of Saginaw High School. Following graduation, he served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force from August 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Upon his return, Charles began working in the core room at General Motors, retiring in 1997 with 35 years of service. He married Jacqueline June (Love) Westlock, on November 16, 1966; she preceded him in death on January 6, 2018. Charles was a longtime member of Community of Christ Church. He enjoyed spending time at his home bird watching. Charles will be remembered for being a kind, generous, and quiet soul.
Surviving are one son and one daughter: Michael Riley, Kelly (Robert) Ribble; stepchildren: Larry Westlock and Connie Stein; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Joan Kobel and Patricia Bennett. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Emmett and Lola Riley; stepchildren: Barbara Westlock, Louise Fraczewski, and John Westlock; two brothers and two sisters: Robert (Marilyn) Riley, Kenneth Riley, Mildred Riley, and Beverly Jean Riley.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI, 48601. Elder Dawn Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
