Cheryl Lynn Kay

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, with her family at her side. Age 67 years.

The daughter of the late Raymond Charles and Dorothy Marie (Watt) Lewis, Cheryl was born on June 30, 1957, in Tecumseh, Michigan. She acquired her GED from Napoleon, then obtained her Associate Degree in Childhood Development from Delta College. She met the love of her life, David “Dave” Kent Kay, while listening to bands at Dizzy’s in Brooklyn. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 7, 1976. Dave preceded her in death on April 12, 2024. Her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother was paramount in Cheryl’s life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. She worked as an assistant in the Children’s Department at the Hoyt Library for 15 years of loyal and dedicated service, where she made a positive impact on many young lives. Cheryl and Dave shared a passion for travel, with camping adventures holding a special place in their hearts; their most memorable vacation was spent at Tahquamenon Falls. They were also avid fans of NASCAR, watching many races together. In her free time, Cheryl found solace tending to her flowers, which reflected her nurturing spirit. Above all, Cheryl cherished the time spent with her family and loved ones.

Surviving are her sons: Matthew (Amy) Kay of Chelsea; William Kay of Saginaw; three granddaughters: Madison and Marissa Kay of Chelsea; Adelyn Kay of Saginaw; four brothers: Rick Lewis, Lee Lewis, Rod Lewis, and Matt Lewis. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Honoring Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Gift of Life Michigan, or the American Kidney Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Please share your condolences and memories with the family at the online at https://www.casefuneralhome.com.
