Christine Garcia

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, our beloved Christine, on February 3, 2025, at the age of 70 years, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. 

Christine was born on October 30, 1954, daughter of the late Ray and Mary (Medina) Garcia, in Saginaw. Christine attended Delta College until she married Edward Osuna in February of 1974. He predeceased her in 2013. Christine was a treasure to her family, giving advice, always lending an ear and a shoulder to lean on. She was known for her merciful heart, strength, unwavering determination, love, and support for her family. Christine’s greatest joy and achievement was her large, loving, and close-knit family. As a mother of nine and grandmother of fourteen, she was the heart of the Osuna family. Her home was the gathering place for holiday celebrations, and impromptu family get-togethers. Christine had a knack for remembering every birthday, anniversary, and important date in her children's and grandchildren's lives, never failing to make a phone call or facetime to celebrate with them. She enjoyed spending her time at pace with her special friends that she made along the way. She loved participating in craft making, such as potholders. She loved singing, completing crossword puzzles, BINGO, binge watching Twilight, Hallmark, General Hospital, Hartland, and horror movies with her kids. 

Christine is survived by her daughters, Sara (Ortiz) Osuna, Sonia (Gilberto) Perez Jr, Leia Osuna (Freddy DeGroat), Rosanna Osuna (Willie Morris, Jr), Jessie “Winne” (Ramiro) Gonzales, II, Joanna Osuna, Edward Osuna, II, Jesse Osuna and George Osuna; siblings, Virginia (Gary) May, Ruben (Gloria) Garcia, Robert (Mary Lou) Garcia, Alicia (Rob) Okeley; her beloved grandchildren, Martha “Lily” Ortiz, Layla Ortiz, Milagro “Cielo” Perez, Lazarus Perez, Isabella “Bella” Perez, Jose K. Ortiz, Marlina K. Ortiz, Esperanza “Espi” Gonzales, Jazmine M. Gonzales, Alicia R. Gonzales, Zoe Otto, Zayne Otto,  Zander Otto, and Leiana Osuna; many nieces and nephews and a very special friend who she adored like a sister, Theresa Ornelas. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Marie Garcia.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company, 5700 Dixie Highway. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the chapel from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
