Christine Helen Zapata

Christine (Chris) Helen Zapata, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma/nana, and great-grandma, passed away at her home on Friday, March 15, 2024. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan to her parents Russell Shaw and Helen Anderson. Throughout her life, Chris made a lasting impact on those around her with her kind heart and sarcastic humor.

In her younger days she worked at the Saginaw Civic Center, Hoyt Park, Pinkertons Security, Meijer, and Bay Auto Auction. She took pride in learning new skills.

Chris found joy in tending to her flower beds, taking care of her lawn, enjoying a competitive game of bowling, watching the wildlife from her porch, and spending peaceful days fishing. Her love for nature and the outdoors was evident to all who knew her. She loved listening to music and watching the Tigers games with her husband.

Chris is survived by her husband of 46 years Robert B. Zapata. They were united in marriage on September 23, 1977. Also surviving are four siblings: Russell Shaw Jr., Debra Aten, Cheri Reinbold, and Terry Shaw; two sons: Robert B. (Anita) Zapata Jr. and Manuel R. (Kathryn) Zapata; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Candelario Hernandez, Kaylynn Zapata, Carolena Zapata,  Madilynn Zapata, Christian Zapata, Serenity Lane, and Zia Bella Quimada Zapata; and great-grandchildren Makaias, Yessenia, and Marley.

In the memories shared by those who knew Chris well, she will be remembered for her dedication to her family, making the best food, and her sassy personality. Those who were fortunate enough to have known her will cherish their memories with her.

May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the lives of many and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of calling her family or friend.
