Christine L. Horvat

Christine L Horvat passed away at Winter Park, Florida on September 29, 2024 at the age of 100. She was born Christine Finch on May 14, 1924 in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee.

Christine was a charter member of State Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir, Director of the children’s choir and served as a trustee. She was always willing to serve in whatever area of work that was needed.

During World War II, she worked at Buick in Flint, Michigan. When her youngest child went to school, she was employed at Saginaw Arthur Hill High School from 1967 to 1988 as lead secretary in the main office and the counseling center. She then volunteered at Luther Manor , a home for the aged, where she filled them with happiness by singing for them and talking with them.

Christine was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Horvat, her son Stephen G. Horvat and her identical twin sister Geraldine Chapman. She was also predeceased by two brothers Milton and Doyle Finch, as well as two brothers-in- law John and James Horvat.

Surviving her are her daughter, Linda Chapman, son Rodney Horvat, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Amy Terhune will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Christine’s wishes were to have donations made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
