Christine Murin

Beloved sister and aunt passed away August 11 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Chris was the daughter of the late John and Arlene(Knoerr) Murin. Chris was born on December 11, 1953 in Saginaw, MI. She graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School. She went on to further her education at Delta College, Michigan State University(BA) and Central Michigan University(MA).

Chris was a very adventurous person and loved new challenges. After Delta, she and two friends backpacked through Europe for 3 months. Later in life she went to Greece for several months with the thought of relocating there. After retirement she and her sister went to Slovakia to trace family history in that country.

Chris started her professional working career in human resources and worked on several hospital mergers throughout the State of Michigan. Later she went on to be a consultant in that field as well as in interior decorating. Seeking a change again in life, she became an event planner for American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. Change was part of Chris’s character and she went back to school and became an Esthetician. That field took her to Traverse City where she eventually managed the salon at Great Wolf Lodge. Again craving change she briefly moved to Ashville, North Carolina but she missed family and friends and moved back to Saginaw. In Saginaw she worked several places and eventually retired from Morley Companies.

Being a good friend, a special sister and aunt were what made Chris the happiest. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sister Monica(John) Ross of Boyne City, niece Erica(Michael)Phelps of Grand Haven and niece Allison(Andrew) Meyer of Lake Orion. Holding a special place in Chris’s heart are her grand nieces Abby and Izzy Phelps and grand nephews, Evan, Luke and Alex Meyer as well as many cousins and special friends.

Memorial service will take place at Case Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, on Wednesday, August 16 at 3pm with visitation from 1-3 prior to the service. Rev. Kevin O’Bryan will officiate. Those wishing to express sympathy in Chris’s name may consider St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
