Clarence “Sonny” Gedraitis
Of Saginaw, MI
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on June 6, 2020 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Age 85 years. Sonny was born on February 4, 1935 to the late Frank and Rose (Frasle) Gedraitis in Saginaw. He married the love of his life, Carol Dietrich, on March 24, 1956 and shared 64 happy years together. Sonny proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for two years. Sonny retired after 30 years from Steering Gear Plant 4 in 1983. He enjoyed camping, metal detecting, wood working, and tinkering with things in his garage. Sonny was a jack of all trades there was nothing he couldn't do. He built their first RV trailer and took his family all around Lake Superior. Throughout the years they traveled by RV all over the United States, including Canada and Alaska. Sonny was a happy-go-lucky guy. He will be missed for his kind soul and great sense of humor.
Surviving along with his wife, Carol Gedraitis, are two children: Brian (Sarah) Gedraitis and Susan (Jayson) Tacey, five grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole, Shaena, Jordan, and Chelsea, three great-grandchildren: Landyn, Alyvia, and Bristol, and a brother, Charles (Janet Gedraitis. He is predeceased by a son, Randy Gedraitis, and two sisters: Rose Kientz and Lorraine Fodo.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to McLaren Hospice, especially nurses: Tiffany, Jennifer and Sarah for their compassionate care of Sonny.
Honoring Sonny’s wishes cremation has taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of their choice.
