Clifford “Pete” Deforest Schneider of Wheeler, Michigan

Beloved husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at his home with his wife by his side. He was 93 years old. Clifford Deforest Schneider was born on June 30, 1927, in Breckenridge, to the late Deforest Clifton and Viola (Sampson) Schneider. He married the love of his life, Ervidean Louise Crosby on June 23, 1950, at Breckenridge Congregation Parsonage; she survives him. Pete was the owner and operator of Pete’s Auto Sales for 50 years. Throughout his life, he took pride in attending AA meetings, as well as helping and inspiring others to become sober. As a young man, Pete enjoyed fishing with his father in Canada and hunting deer with his sons. The second love of Pete’s life was his 1962, poppy red Ford Thunderbird. He will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic, his love for reparing cars in his garage, his loving and wonderful sense of humor, and his overactive sweet tooth.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Ervidean Louise Schneider of Wheeler; two sons: Daniel (Shirley) Schneider of WI and AZ; David Schneider of Wheeler; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Scott (Tracey) Schneider; sister, Kay Brown; and his best friend, Gayle Greening. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Schneider; sister, Althea Neigh.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw Street, Merrill. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow at Wheeler Township Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.
