Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 with his family at his side; at the age of 58 years.
The son of the late Alexander and Victoria (Hidalgo) Chingman, Cruz was born on July 9, 1963 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Theresa Garcia on September 23, 1981 in Saginaw; she survives him. Cruz was a member of Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption. He is a tribal member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. Cruz enjoyed playing pool, cards, basketball, listening to music especially the Oldies. Above all, Cruz cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife of 40 years, Theresa; are two sons and their spouses: Cruz and Trisha Chingman, Adam and Maria Chingman; his daughter-in-law: Paulette Garcia; eight grandchildren: Valenica Carolton, Valentina Garcia, Kayla Chingman, Mariah Garcia, Jacob Garcia, Elijah Chingman, Carter Chingman, Chloe Chingman; sisters and brothers: Renaldo (Patty) Chingman, Sara Chingman, Christina (Sam) Chingman, Vincent Chingman. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Cruz was preceded in death by his son: Valentino Garcia.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Friends may also visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption.
