Dale Arthur Smith

Smith, Dale Arthur Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Bay County Medical Care Facility. Age 89 years. He was born February 10, 1927, in Saginaw, the son of the late Merlie (Slater) and Cecil Smith. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1945 and then served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Elsie M. Rick on October 18, 1947; she predeceased him on February 8, 1998, after 50 years of marriage. He had been employed as an insurance agent with Sentry Insurance for many years. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Dale was an avid golfer, and played in various leagues. He also enjoyed fishing, particularly in his younger years. Surviving are four daughters, two sons and their spouses: Peggy Love, Bay City, MI; Sharon Shible, Lenoir City, TN; Guy and Debbie Smith, Saginaw, MI; Gregg Smith, Rochester Hills, MI; Terri Smith, Bremerton, WA; Dr. Cindi Smith, Kalamazoo, MI; eight grandchildren: Donn (Ria) and Jody Love, Miranda Shible, Jordan, Mackenzie and Michael Smith and Stephanie and Kristen Smith; five great-grandchildren, Devon, Darian, Logan, Gavin and Audra; one sister, Catherine LeClair; one sister-in-law, Joann Smith; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister, Cecil Smith Jr., Howard Smith, and Eleanor Loubert. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where Dale's family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Rev. James Neumann will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
