Dale Russell Hernden

Hernden, Dale Russell, 09/15/1946- 11/19/2020, Saginaw Township, Michigan. Passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 peacefully at his home with his wife and dogs by his side. He was 74 years old. Dale R. Hernden was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 15, 1946 to Russell and Jacqueline (Thompson) Hernden. He was a graduate of Centerline High School and Michigan State University.
Dale enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in the financial industry retiring from Morgan Stanley as a senior vice president. He was past President of the Saginaw Country Club and Rotary of Saginaw. Dale was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed bird hunting and fly fishing. He bred and campaigned many Champion English Pointers and Setters. He loved talking “bird dogs” with his buddies, taking hunting trips and attending field trials all over the country. His favorite place to be was at his cabin LoBank on the North Branch of the Au Sable River. He was a member of Anglers of the Au Sable, Trout Unlimited, The North Branch Association and a lifetime member of Mason Bridgeport Lodge. He was instrumental in bringing Project Healing Waters to the Saginaw Veterans Association. Dale loved all creatures big and small and through the years opened his heart and his home to many rescue dogs. He was a believer in the Rainbow Bridge and certain that all his “kids” would be there waiting for him when he passed. He loved Winston Lights, the band Alabama, coney dogs and Sunday afternoon naps.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hernden of Saginaw, a son David (Grace) Hernden of Bozeman, MT, brother Ronald (Christina) Hernden of Bradenton, FL Brother-in-law Eric Noetzel (Gabriella Butcher) of Port Huron, MI, sister-in-law Martha Dugdale of Toivola, MI, and his “adopted” daughter, Dorothea (Manual) Kleinemenke of Stuttgart, Germany, Aunt Margaret Thompson of Jensen Beach, Fl, special nephew William Lindsay of Saginaw, nephew Brian Lindsay of Port Huron, niece Emily (Keven) Luther of Dearborn, MI, nieces Sarah (Chris) Ryan and Amy (Scott) Carrington, and nephew Jeffrey Hernden all of Bradenton, Florida, and very good friends George and Susan Loesel of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Jacqueline Hernden and favorite Uncle Robert Thompson.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes cremation will take place. Memorials may be made to Michigan Doodle Rescue Connect, Saginaw’s Angels Among Us or Anglers of the Au Sable in his honor.
