Sherwood, Dale Traverse City Michigan formerly of Merrill, Michigan Passed away at French Manor in Traverse City on Sunday December 2, 2012 at the age of 82 years. The son of the late Lyle John and Alice Laura (Greening) Sherwood was born on Sept, 28th, 1930 in Gratiot County Ml. He married Maxine G. Ellis on April 17, 1954; she predeceased him in February 15, 1990. He served in the US Army in Berlin during the Korean Conflict Prior to service and following his return he was employed by the Dow Chemical Co. until his retirement in 1982. After retiring from Dow, he was a rural mail carrier and operated a lawn service with his brother Calvin. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling and camping with his friends, and a campfire was a special place for him. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Charlene Sherwood, two grandchildren; Jack and Nicole Sherwood, a sister, Yvonne (Melvin) Brow, brothers Arland (Brenda) Sherwood, Duane (Janet) Sherwood, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Calvin and sister-in-Law Barbara. Funeral service will take place at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 3, 2012 at W. L Case and Company Funeral Chapel, in Merrill. Fr. Craig Carolan will officiate with burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Merrill. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of funeral service.
