Daniel Cardona Bay City, Michigan Went to be with his Lord, Saturday May 14, 2016. Age 78 years. He passed away unexpectedly at Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, MI with his family at his side. Daniel was born in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late John Cardona and Isabel Castanon on August 15, 1937. His father passed away when he was very young and he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Pedro Castanon. He married Gloria, his childhood sweetheart, May 30, 1959. They would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this month. Daniel owned and operated the Continental Barber Shops in the Saginaw Area until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, Dan and Gloria split their time between their summer home in Bay City, Michigan and their winter home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dan was proud of being a member of the U.S. Army and 101st Airborne. Dan and Gloria had a passion for travel and visited all 50 states, some more than once, and 21 countries. Dan also enjoyed playing golf. He was a die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions. As a season ticket holder, he and Gloria enjoyed attending all their games for over thirty years. They also attended Detroit Tiger baseball games in Detroit as well as Lakeland, Florida. Dan loved his Lord and was a member of South Baptist Church, Bay City, MI and Northside Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, FL. Dan was a loving husband, father and grandfather, He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his son, Dr. Daniel Cardona and his wife, Patricia, Cold Spring, KY; his son, Mark Cardona, Fenton, MI and granddaughter Diana and her husband Max Cormendy, Batavia, OH; his sister Abigail Chavez, Philadelphia, PA; a sister-in-law, Julie Cardona, Sterling Heights, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved grandson, Mark Allen Cardona, his brothers, John and Joseph Cardona and his sisters, Mary Arcinega, Rebecca Cervantes and Rachel Cardona. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Mark Kirkpatrick will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday.
