Daniel J. Buckley beloved husband of Mary Lou Buckley (Shotwell) passed away peacefully at his home on May 3rd, 2016 at age 80. He began his life journey on February 2, 1936 in Saginaw. Daniel was the son of the late Joseph and Rosalind Buckley. He graduated in 1954 from St. Peter and Paul and continued his education graduating from The University of Toledo with a degree in Transportation Management. Daniel spent 45 years as a manager in the trucking industry working in both Saginaw, MI and Chicago, IL. He was employed by Saginaw Transfer, Blue Arrow and retired from USF Holland. Daniel was a man of faith, family and sports! As an avid Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan he attended several games throughout his life. Daniel enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends, visiting 39 of the 50 states. He also spent many weekends in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin attending his grandchildren various activities, you could always find him in the stands or auditorium. Additionally, Daniel was President of the Illinois Trucking Association and while living in Michigan was very active in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Daniel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; his daughters, Rose (Mike) Wosek and Joanne (Tom) Burgmaier; son-in-law, Eugene Sullivan; eleven grandchildren, Sarah (Steve) White, Rick Wosek, Stephanie (Kris) Copeman, Steven Oatten, Joe Burgmaier, Brittany Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Nicole Burgmaier & Ryan Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Braylon & Avery White and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his son, Joseph Buckley; daughter, Kathleen Sullivan and two brothers. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 10th at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Entombment will take place at St. Andrew's. Daniel's family will receive friends at W.L Case & Company Funeral Home 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Monday, May 9th from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm and 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm with a vigil at 7:00 pm.
