Daniel "Dan" Carl Yancer, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan, formerly of Hemlock
Passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at St. Francis Home of Saginaw. He was 90 years old. Dan was born on October 11, 1928, in Thomastown (Thomas Township) to the late Daniel C and Evelyn (Lacy) Yancer, Sr. He married Lillian M. Hickmott; she preceded him in death. Dan later married Ellen M. (Cooper) Euler in November of 1965; she preceded him in death on June 6, 2001. He worked for the Freeland Elevator, owned his own restaurant called "Dans Lunch", Coates Tire Company, Sears Warehouse, Martin Chevrolet, delivering the Detroit News on a motor route in the thumb, and as a security officer where he policed many weddings held at the Jonesfield Township Hall. Dan sometimes worked three of these jobs at one time. He was also elected constable of Richland Township. He also owned and operated his own business; Dans Trucking in Hemlock for over 40 years before he retired.
Surviving are two sons: Cleo (Mona) Yancer of Saginaw; and Leo Yancer of Advance, MO; four grandchildren: Lonnie (Carrie) Yancer of Portage, MI; Jessie Gann of HI; Amy (John) Sticht of Scott City, MO; Christina (Barry) Harter of Calumet, MI; five great-grandchildren: Autumn, Emma, Tanner, Hannah, and Alyssa; three step-children: Wayne (Carol) Euler; Ida Stricker; and Joann (Wayne) Theil; and a step-daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Euler. Also surviving are many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, cousins and friends, Connie Mull; Frank Ostrowski; Merl Liebrock; and Ted Kanuszewski.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Floyd Euler; and a step son-in-law, Larry Stricker. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Francis Home and A & D Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Dan.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Chaplain David Wachowiak will officiate. Honoring Dans wishes cremation will follow. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw County Meals on Wheels, St. Francis Home of Saginaw, and A & D Hospice.
