Daniel Trepiak

Daniel "Dan" Trepiak of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on February 21, 2023, at Michigan Medicine - Ann Arbor. Daniel Trepiak was born on May 23, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Anthony and Dolores (Kalinowski) Trepiak. He was a proud graduate of Lamphere High School in Madison Heights. Following graduation, Dan attended Oakland University. As a young boy, and eventually as a young man, he became fascinated with playing the drums. He eventually marched in the Madison Heights Marauders Drum and Bugle Corps. Dan met the love of his life, Deborah "Debbie" Chapple, through his best friend, Dan Mihalko, with the drum Corps. They dated, fell in love, and have spent the last 45 amazing years together. Dan and Debbie made Saginaw their home in 1978 after commuting for a couple of years. He was a profound and inspirational drum instructor to many throughout his tenure with the Saginaires Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as the Eagles Drum and Bugle Corps. Daniel was employed as a residential builder for Caterino Builders in Thomas Township for over 27 years. He later worked for Fox Theatre Maintenance where he built AMC Theatres throughout the county. Dan's little piece of heaven was spending time with his wife, Debbie, and his dog, Stevie. Though he didn't have any children of his own, he and Debbie considered all the Drum Corps kids their own, regardless of their station or situation in life. It was also the little things in life that made Dan happy: a Coca Cola, Little Debbie snack, and a sandwich. Dan will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic, his dedication, mentorship, and loyalty to the Drum Corps, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful laughs, beautiful memories, and stories with his loving family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Debbie Chapple of Saginaw; three sisters and one brother: Antoinette "Netta" (Greg) Bovee, Phyllis (Tom) Dowgiert; Linda (Saad) Shallal; Ken (Jo Ann) Trepiak; two sisters-in-law: Jeanne (Mike) Behrik, Janet (Tim) Maag; brother-in-law, Richard (Lida) Chapple; a special friend who was like a brother, Dan Mihalko; and special neighbors: Walt and Jackie Pockel and Joan and Vince Wazney. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Paul Trepiak; his parents, Anthony and Dolores Trepiak; grandparents; and many aunts, and uncles.

Deborah would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Michigan Medicine's 5th and 8th floor for all the love and care they provided to Dan and Debbie.

Honoring Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place.
