Danny Walter Lago of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center. He was 78 years old. Danny Walter Lago was born on April 4, 1946, in Hampton Township, Michigan, to the late Benjamin and Irene (Johnson) Lago. He was employed as a truck driver with the former Sexton/Waste Management, retiring with over 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. Being a grandfather expanded his heart and he loved to spoil all of them. An avid outdoorsman, Danny found peace and tranquility when he was out hunting and fishing. His little piece of heaven was listening to music, especially the Oldies. Danny also enjoyed watching movies, Westerns being his favorite. Though he could be stubborn, he will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, for the love and care he had for his family, and for the love he had for his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon L. Lago of Saginaw; a daughter, Shannon (Tom) Hill of Saginaw; daughter-in-law, Laurie Lago of Gladwin; 11 grandchildren: Pauline (Brad) Perkins, Chelsie Kuecken, Troy Rogers, Austin Lago, Tylor Hill, Aaron Rogers, Cassie Rogers, Alexandrea Lago, Hope Adams, Gabrielle Adams, and Cole Hill; 8 great-grandchildren: Elliana, Adalynn, Kaiden, Mahkenna, Aeriana, Greyson, Hudson, and Kai; three sisters and a brother, Shannon, Charlotte, and Richard (Lorraine). Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Danny W. Lago Jr., three brothers and four sisters, Ralph, Gerald, Betty, Harold, Tina, Barbara, and Donna. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center, as well as his daughter, Shannon, for all the love and care they provided to Danny and the entire family. Honoring Danny's wishes, cremation has taken place.
