David Dale Basner was born on October 16, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Alex D. and Mary (Nothelfer) Basner. He was a 1964 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, he worked as a wholesale lumber distributor for various companies, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service with Jim White Lumber Sales. The role of his lifetime was to be a loving father and grandfather. As a young man, Dave, both played baseball as well as coached for the Saginaw City Little League. He was a longtime member of the Saginaw Country Club, enjoyed reading, and spending time with his cherished dog, Sid. His little piece of heaven was spending time on the golf course and cheering for the Detroit Tigers. He will forever be remembered for his amazing ability to tell stories, his loyal, caring, and compassionate spirit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with love for his family.

Blackney; his partner and companion of 11 years, Cynthia Pace of New Jersey; many treasured nieces and nephews, three of which were near and dear to his heart: Tony Horonzy of Saginaw, Kelly Horonzy of Royal Oak, and Audra Belongia of Freeland.
