David "Dave" Lee Tweddle of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital. He was 72 years old. David Lee Tweddle was born on June 26, 1951, in Traverse City, Michigan, to the late Louis David and Lois Ann (Antoine) Tweddle. He met the love of his life, Sharon Kay Griffin, as a student at Arthur Hill High School. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on December 5, 1970; she survives him. David proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army where he was stationed in Hamburg, German; Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Da Nang, Vietnam. He was in the 23rd Infantry Division Americal, served as a Drill Sergeant, a tank operator, and had risen to the rank of E8 until his honorable discharge, serving eight years in active service, 18 years in the Reserve, and received both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. David completed his high school education, as well as many university courses, through the military. Throughout his professional life, he worked as a painter, using his skills in both residential and commercial painting, eventually owning and operation his own business "Tweeds Painting." The role of his lifetime, and one he loved and cherished the most, was to be a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. David was a proud and longtime member of American Legion Post 125. As a young man he enjoyed playing darts and taking on painting side jobs. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed taking long drives, watching people fish, and having a beer. Anyone that knew David, knew he loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his collection of flannel shirts, as the "life of the party", a man of quick wit and heart of gold, for his selflessness to anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sharon K. Tweddle of Saginaw; two sons: David Tweddle of Saginaw; Rob (Jennifer) Tweddle of Saginaw; seven grandchildren: Jacob Tweddle, Madison Tweddle, Paige Tweddle, Kenzie Tweddle, Andrew Tweddle, Brice Tweddle, and Kathryn Tweddle; a great-granddaughter on the way, Paisley Tweddle; brother, Louis "Henry" (Linda) Tweddle of Essexville; his "sis" Mary Tweddle of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lois Tweddle; and a brother, John Tweddle.
A funeral service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI, 48603. Rev.
