Beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend, peacefully passed away on December 9th, 2024, at his home in Detroit, MI. David Jay Parcell, born on August 23rd, 1947, in Saginaw, MI, to the late Donald Jay & Mary Alice Parcell. David graduated from Saginaw High School in 1965 and continued his education and received his Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in Social Work. David's degree opened many avenues in what he enjoyed the most, helping others. For a short time he taught English in Tapachula, Mexico. As an HIV counselor for Saginaw County Department of Public Health, in 1995, through David's initiative and hard work Saginaw became a site for a year long gene research study. He also worked at Saginaw County Mental Health before moving to Detroit, Michigan to work for The City of Detroit Bureau of Substance Abuse, Prevention, Treatment and Recovery. He received several awards and recognitions for his outstanding service in the Substance Abuse Prevention Field through Michigan Association of Substance Abuse Coordinating Agencies and the City of Detroit Youth Division. He was a life member of the Masonic Saginaw Lodge No. 77. David had a love for animals and rescued several dogs. He also loved art, playing the piano, decorating and helping others but, most of all his family.
Surviving are Kenneth E (Debbie) Parcell of Saginaw. Susan M. (Brian) Bidwell of Saginaw. Vicky (Barry) Kuznicki of Saginaw. Also surviving several nieces, great nieces, nephews great nephews, extended family and very dear friends. He was preceded in death by a brother Bruce A. Parcell.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 13, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
