David Nicol, age 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed into the presence of the Lord he loved on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He can now say with the apostle Paul "...absent from the body, present with the Lord...which is far better." (2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23). He was born on January 22, 1931, to David G. and Elizabeth (Kassin) Nicol. He married Priscilla M. Flood, Nov. 3, 1956, and they enjoyed 58 years together. David will be sorely missed by his surviving wife and five children, Jonathan (Lois) of Birch Run, Stephen of San Diego, Timothy (Susanne), Elizabeth, and Rebecca (Tom) Wright of Saginaw, and six grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Ashley, Allison, Grant, Lindsay, and Adam. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruth Hamilton and Janette (John) Fleming, and six nieces and nephews. Following his service to his country during the Korean War, he was employed by Grey Iron Foundry and then self-employed, as Nicol Contracting Services, until retirement. David gathered with Christians at the Gospel Hall in Saginaw and devoted many years to children's gospel outreach. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at W. L. Case & Company, 5700 Dixie Hwy. Saginaw, MI, officiated by Daniel Shutt. Military burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
