Palmer, Dean A. Bridgeport, Michigan
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend to many, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Covenant Cooper, at the age of 84 years.
Dean was born June 13, 1931, in Taymouth Township, the son of the late William Palmer and Bertha (Granger) Palmer Newvine and step-son of the late Edward Newvine. He graduated from Birch Run High School with the Class of 1949, and served his country in the USAF during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Beverly J. Clements, on July 4, 1955, celebrating 60 wonderful years together. He retired from Buick Motor Division after 40 years of service. He was an active member of Bridgeport Community Church for 55 years.
He enjoyed family, friends, hunting, fishing, playing cards, bowling, camping and keeping his yard and car spiffy.
Surviving besides his wife, Beverly, are four children, Dawn (Wayne) Wolfe, Craig (Karen) Palmer, Paul (Denise) Palmer and Lance (Cheryl Orth) Palmer; twelve grandchildren, Carli, Jeremy, Eric, Kevin, Scott, Justine, Michele, Sabastian, Nicole, Grant, Rhett and John; one sister, Wanda DeSander; his mother-in-law, Lucille Clements; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie Palmer, Kay Ann Palmer, Sandi (Eldon) Vance, Anson "Rock" (Jill Freeman) Clements, and Connie Clements; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline, Patricia and Billie; and by his brothers, Wesley, Russell, Norman (Evelyn), and twin brother, Gene; and brother-in-law, Malcolm "Mal" Clements.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State Street, Bridgeport. Rev. Ronald Sinclair will officiate. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Birch Run VFW Post #7542 with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery, Bridgeport. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, from 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, from 1:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
