Deborah “Deb” Ann Scheffler of Birch Run, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, June 18, 2021. She was 65 years old. Deborah Ann Polzin was born on March 19, 1956, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Leo James Polzin and Barbara Ann (Bell) Pollen. She was a proud 1974 graduate of Birch Run High School. Deb met the love of her life, Tim Walter Scheffler, while snowmobiling with her cousin, Greg, Tim’s best friend. They fell in love and were united in marriage on October 5, 1974, in Birch Run, Michigan; he survives her. She worked for Shoney’s Restaurant, Pepperidge Farm, Bavarian Inn, and Exit Restaurant, but her heart and soul truly belonged to being a loving wife and mother. Deb was a longtime faithful member of the Assumption BVM Parish where she volunteered her time as a catechist, the altar society, leading the funeral luncheon committee, and many other activities over the years. She found peace and tranquility in nature, especially working in her garden and planting flowers. Deb also was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed crafting and needle point. Deb will forever be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, her selflessness to all she cared about, and her beautiful and understanding soul.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Tim Walter Scheffler of Birch Run; two sons and one daughter: Tim (Jennifer) Scheffler of Birch Run; Stephanie (Darren) Gohn of Otisville; Christopher (Rachel) Scheffler of Birch Run; four grandchildren: Ethan, Riley, Christopher, and Mackenzie Scheffler; sister, Charlene Polzin of Birch Run; brother, Kenneth Polzin of Montrose; sister-in-law: Brenda Polzin Birch Run. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Polzin, mother, Barbara (Andy) Pollen, and a brother, Timothy Polzin.
A Funeral Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Honoring Deborah’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
