Beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at her home with her family at her side; at the age of 52 years. The daughter of David Mitchell and the late Nancy (Stavely) Mitchell, Denise was born on May 30, 1967 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Bridgeport High School with the Class of 1986. Denise married James Joseph Smith on February 23, 1991 at St. John Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan; he survives her. Denise enjoyed the holidays, especially the Fourth of July. If she was not out shopping, Denise was at home watching her Law and Order shows. Denise cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Above all, she loved being a dedicated mother to her children and grandsons.

Surviving are her father: David Mitchell; four children: Andrew James Smith, Austin Mitchell Smith, Alexzandra Nicole Smith, Ashton David Smith; three grandsons: Landin, Leilend and Levi Smith; three brothers and two sisters: David Mitchell, Wade Goodall, Holly Goodall-Smith, Ryan Mitchell and Darcy Mitchell. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Honoring Denise’s wishes, a private funeral service and burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens has taken place. Rev. Jerry Larkin officiated. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family, in c/o Alexzandra Smith.
