Diane L. Greenwood

Diane L. Greenwood, born on November 26, 1952, in Saginaw, departed this world far too suddenly on December 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy steeped in love, compassion, and nurturing spirit. Diane, a devoted Licensed Practical Nurse, graced the halls of Covenant with her unwavering dedication for many years, embodying the essence of care that she so cherished in her profession. Her empathetic nature was evident to all who crossed her path; she made her mark not just as a caregiver but as a beacon of light for her patients and colleagues alike.

Friends intervened in Diane's life, inviting a friend of theirs to a family wedding and set Diane up with William Greenwood on a blind date in 1973. They later married on May 1, 1976 and enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. William predeceased her on May 25, 2020; however, we are assured of their now, joyful reunion.

A proud graduate of Arthur Hill School, class of 1972, she furthered her commitment to healing by earning LPN certificates from the Delta Nursing School. Diane was not merely defined by her career; she wore many hats with grace and warmth. As a grand matriarch, she was a loving and excellent "GiGi" to her four cherished grandchildren: Britanie (Ryan Wood) Greenwood, Jazmine Greenwood, Derek Greenwood, and Connor Kowalski. The joy she found in their laughter and smiles is a testament to the richness of her spirit. Diane thrived on social interactions, often rekindling old bonds and forging new ones through the modern wonders of Facebook. Diane also enjoyed crocheting, making many blankets for family and friends. And in quieter moments, she kept her keen mind sharp, by reading books or challenging herself with intricate word puzzles.

She leaves a cherished family who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness: her two children, Michael Joseph Greenwood and Melissa Ann Kowalski (Nick); her bonus daughter Michelle Morford; her devoted brother, Thomas Morford (Cynthia); and a tapestry of extended family, including sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and their spouses, Karen and Ron Chapin; Loretta Oldenburg; Edward and Jan Greenwood, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Though Diane’s parents, Lawrence and Harriette (Eldred) Morford, and her beloved husband William Greenwood, brother Jeff Morford and sister Maxine Morford have passed on, the indelible influence they had on her life remains part of her essence, a reminder of the foundation upon which she built her remarkable journey.
