Diane passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Age 71 years.
She was born October 24, 1949 at Saginaw General Hospital to Russell E. Simons and Molly P. (Kirby) Simons. She graduated in 1967 from Chesaning High School and immediately started her career at age 17 at the Saginaw ISD, retiring after 35 years.
Diane was known for her quick wit and enormous volume of valuable advice, joking often about “hanging out her shingle.” She enjoyed meditation, her Namaste group, researching her ancestry, crosswords, music, trivia and especially her day trips with family. Diane traveled to England many times with her mom (her homeland) and throughout the U.S.
She was never hesitant to help anyone, often driving friends for appointments and errands. One of her favorite quotes was, “Money is just numbers on paper and is only valuable when in the hands of those who need it.”
Diane is survived by her siblings, Deb (Gary) Tanner, Garry (Melanie) Simons, Dennis (Michelle) Simons, and Jason Simons; nieces and nephews, Jolene (Tim) Bester, Mark Harding, Melissa (Scott) Seamon, Stacey Simons, and Ashley Simons; her honorary daughter, Gretchen (Matt) Lough and granddaughters Kathryn and Maggie Lough; 7 stepsiblings, (The Pendell Clan), and many friends. She was predeceased by her father Russell, mother Molly, stepfather David, and nephew John Harding IV.
Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Pastor Karen Sorden will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, be kind to someone. Our precious memories are now our greatest treasures.
