Dolores Hazel Rooker of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Center. She was 84 years old. Dolores Hazel Gary was born on May 23, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Ellis and Hazel (Wenzel) Gary. She married the love of her life, Richard Clinton Rooker on August 5, 1953; he preceded her in death on August 23, 2006. Dolores was employed at Community State Bank as a custodian for 35 years. She was a faithful member of Nelson United Methodist Church. Dolores enjoyed canning and teaching anyone willing to learn. She also loved baking and used every ounce of kindness and love to bake for her family and all the neighborhood kids. Dolores could bake anything, but she was famous for her gingersnaps, peanut butter cookies, and blueberry pie. She also loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Above all, Dolores treasured and cherished spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors.
Surviving are four daughters and one son: Marcia (Jim) Walston of Mexico; Debra Rooker of Clayton, IL; Vickie Lyn (Greg) Cooper of Saginaw; Richard (Pamela) Rooker of St. Charles; Jean (Tim) Damic of AL; son-in-law, Richard Tompa of Chesaning; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma Gary of FL; nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ann Tompa; grandson, Travis Michael Fath; two brothers and one sister: Don Gary, Junior Gary, and Mildred Gary.
Due to the world wide pandemic, a private graveside service has taken place at Brant Cemetery with Rev. Rob Richards officiating.
