Malone, Don Taymouth, Michigan Passed away at his home in Taymouth Township on Monday, October 16, 2017, at the age of 91 years. Don was born October 28, 1925, at home, to the late Gladys (Allen) and Walter Malone. He served with the US Marine Corps during World War II. Don drove truck for Home Dairy and then returned to farming for the rest of his life. He had been a member of the Birch Run VFW Post #7542 and of the Burt VFW Post. He dearly loved spending time with his family and friends. He married Betty Lehr in 1945, and they were married for 68 years until her passing February 22, 2013. He was also predeceased by his son, Thomas Malone, in 2009, and grandson, Jeffery Malone. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Kay Ann and Ed Benkert, Saginaw, MI; daughter-in-law, Peggy Malone, Birch Run, MI; six grandchildren and their spouses, Edwin and Brandy Benkert, Burt, MI; Denise and Keith Mosey, Saginaw, MI; Julie and Scott Boden, Hanover, MI; Mike and Nicole Benkert, Frankenmuth, MI; Pam and Bob Oberski and Angie and Jeremy Schram, all of Birch Run, MI; twelve great-grandchildren, Edwin (Alisha), Zachary and Ali Benkert, Rachel Tanner, Scott and Shelby Boden, Ashton and Emma Benkert, McKenna and Megan Oberski, and Jacob and Taylor Schram; one great-great-grandson, John; one sister, Jeanne Ruff, Mississippi; one brother, Dave and Marge Malone, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and their families; many coffee shop friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Dick Malone, and by a sister, Elaine Maher. Dons family extends special thanks to all at Covenant - VNA Hospice for their kindness and care. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where his family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and then on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Dons grandchildren and family will lead the celebration of his life. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery, Taymouth Township. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Birch Run VFW Post #7542.
