Dona Marie Lamont

Dona Marie Lamont, 96, of Wheeler (formerly of Thomas Township), passed away on March 27, 2025, at the Roosevelt House with family at her bedside. Dona Riley was born July 14, 1928, in Jam, Michigan, to William and Ruby (Kline) Riley. When she was one month old, she and her family moved to the upper peninsula where she grew up and attended school.

She met Howard Lamont, Jr, after much encouragement from her mother. They were married July 26, 1952, in Angola, Indiana. Together they raised two sons, Ricky and Mike.

She worked at Tri City Airport for a while. She then spent time raising her boys. She loved her cats and dogs, spending time outdoors and feeding the birds. She was a mother figure to granddaughters, Michaelene, Ashlee, and Toya after their mother’s passing.

She is survived by her son, Mike Lamont of Wheeler; daughter-in-law, Cherrie Lamont of Merrill; grandchildren, Ricky Jr. (Bobbie) Lamont, Trisha Lamont, Ryan (Stephanie) Lamont, Robbie (Trish) Lamont, Shawn (Brian) Story, Michaelene (Jason) DeSmyter, Ashlee Jensen, and Toya (Tyler Wilson) Lamont. She is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her son, Ricky; daughter-in-law, Jody Lamont; and granddaughter, Rachel Lamont. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Roy, Ford, Clyde, Raymond, Ed, William, and Jack; and four sisters, Georgia, Violet, Shirley, and Philomena.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Roosevelt House for their loving care.

A private family graveside service will be held at Richland Township Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her husband, Howard.
