Forbes, Donald A. Hemlock, Michigan Donald, age 81, ran his last race across the finish line and into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Don passed away January 7, 2014 at St. Francis Home. He was born to Frieda (Pinnow) and Lewis Forbes on October 19, 1932 in Williams Township, Freeland, Michigan. He married Karen Weigandt August 3, 1963 and she survives him. Don retired from Grey Iron Foundry after 42 years of service. He loved his job driving the overhead crane. He enjoyed hunting. Don and Karen raised the typical Brady Bunch, Deborah Eickmeyer, David (Elsie) Forbes, Darren (Kathy) Forbes, Donald (Jeannette) Forbes II, John (Teresa) Forbes, and Kevin Forbes; ten grandchildren, David Forbes II, Duane Forbes, Danielle Forbes and her fianc, Ryan Nuemeyer, Kelly (Scott) Schweitzer, Amanda Forbes, Kelsey Forbes, Jared Forbes, Eric Forbes, Benjamin Forbes, and Elizabeth Forbes ; six great-grandchildren, Travis Nuemeyer, Daltin Forbes, Carly Nuemeyer, twin boys, David and Logan Schweitzer and Sydney Schweitzer; two brothers, Robert (Edith) Forbes and Allan (Kate) Forbes, both of Midland; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Lois (John) Mead and a brother-in-law, Larry Weigandt. Don was predeceased by a son, James Forbes and a granddaughter, Barbara Renee Forbes; two sisters, Ruth Russell and Grace Gray. The family would like to thank everyone at St. Francis home for the love they gave to the family and their care for Don; Heartland Hospice of Bay City and those at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre, especially Pam Savage (the bird lady) Debbie Copes, Sharonda and Pansy. A very special thank you to Ted Ashley for being a dear friend and the kindness he showed in visiting Don. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Douglas Bassett will officiate with burial in Easton Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
