Donald Albert Schiesswohl Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the Cartwright Care Center. Age 85 years. The son of the late Albert William and Marion Caroline (Meehleder) Schiesswohl was born August 4, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Arthur Hill High School where he participated in track and football. As a shot putter he established State records which remained unbroken for more than 10 years. As a sophomore football player he was selected to play in the National All Star football game in New Orleans. After High school he played at the University of Alabama under Bear Bryant. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he played on the regional team while serving in Germany. After the Army he enrolled at Michigan State College in East Lansing where he played under Biggie Munn. He played in the first Rose Bowl game that MSU played. Don graduated with a degree in education and taught for more than 30 years in the Buena Vista and Saginaw Public School Districts. He was elected to the Saginaw Sports Hall of Fame. Don married Alice Woods. They had three children, Christina Marian; Margaret Alice; Douglas Albert (Diana Tappen); five grandchildren, Nicole Katherine VanNortwick(Angela Alcorta); Christopher Scott VanNortwick(Danielle Spears); Angela Irene Sanders; Eric Jacob Sanders; Thalia Athena Schiesswohl; one great granddaughter, River Alina. A sister, Gloria Schiesswohl, has predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Friends may call at the Chapel from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service.
