Donald “Don” Victor Belisle of Saginaw, Michigan
Another saint has entered glory. Early Saturday, February 24, 2024, God took Don Belisle by his hand and guided him to heaven to rest in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Donald V. Belisle was born on January 22, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Victor Lawrence and Frances Josephine (Glovak) Belisle. Following his graduation from Fraser High School in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas for 4 years. While in the Air Force, he worked as a clinical lab technician, receiving many awards and commendations, including Airman of the Month in the Medical Squadron in 1961. He worked as Clinical Lab Technician at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut from 1963-1966. He attended Delta College and Carnegie Institute.
Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, boating, snowmobiling. He was a Life member of the Saginaw Field & Stream where he served as Director. He also served on the Scholarship Committee and the Building Committee when the beautiful club house was built. Don served his community as a member of the Saginaw Field & Stream Club for 40 years and recently gained Life Membership. He was also a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed serving as president on the Senior Activities (T.A.T.) Committee of Catholic Federal Credit Union.
Don worked at Dow Corning Medical Products Plant from 1967 to 1994, primarily as Production Supervisor, but also as Senior Technician of the Biological Lab, Manufacturing Specialist, and finally in a challenging role as Complaints Coordinator during the highly publicized issue of the breast implants.
Don was married to Linda L. Visconti on February 4, 1961, and their union was blessed with three children, Dawn M. Belisle, Dean M. Belisle and Laura Belisle, who sadly was killed by a drunk driver when she had come home from CMU for a high school class reunion.
He married Ruth M. (Weiss) Wagner, on May 7, 2005; she survives him. The role of his lifetime, and one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was ready to help others and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories. He was a faithful member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. serving as an Elder and in other capacities.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Ruth M. Wagner-Belisle of Saginaw; his children, Dawn and Tony Freeman; Dean and Tina Belisle; three stepchildren: Kimberly R. Jacob; Kurt E. and Diane Wagner, and Katrina L. and John H.Vowell; grandchildren: Sean A. Branch, Judah A. Belisle; a great-grandson, Aiden Jude Branch; step grandchildren: Liza Walker and her fiancé, Joe Bonham; Megan and Tom Pyman and their four children, Izach, Josiah, Brooklyn and Ace; Morgan and Adam Schaffer; and their two children Abel and Aurora, and Jacob Wagner; Also surviving are many beloved extended families in Canada, particularly Ray and Mary-Anne Belisle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Frances Belisle; a daughter, Laura Belisle, step son-in-law, Jeff Jacob.
A Service of Christian Comfort and Victory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Road. Pastor Joshua J. Becker will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 22. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
