Donald C. Gilbert

Passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the age of 92 years. The son of the late Roy and Nellie (Shimmel) Gilbert was born on January 25, 1928 in Saginaw. Don married Cherrie A. LaHaie on October 19, 1957; she survives him. He owned and operated a construction company: Roy-Don, Inc. Don was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing in softball leagues in his younger years, was always up for a game of poker and loved to spend time with his family. Surviving besides his wife of 62 years, Cherrie are their children: Cheri Robar, Joni Gilbert, Donald Gilbert, Kathi (Jodi) Halvin, Joseph Gilbert, Holly (Mark) Foy, Carolyn Cabral, grandchildren: Chuckie, Cherie, Chad, Michael, Kassi, Skylar, Blake, Mark, David, Randall, Kyle, Kelli, Krysten, Andrew, Damian, Greg, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister Shirley (Marvin) Hasso and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Fr. Marc Hopps will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. on Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. where a time of sharing will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
