Donald Dale Downey

Downey, Donald Dale Saginaw, MI Passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Covenant Healthcare, age 78 years. Dale was born January 19, 1937 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of the late Donald and Ovelia (Holcomb) Downey. He married Helen Bellinger March 10, 1956 and she survives him. He was a member of West Michigan Avenue United Methodist Church. Dale owned and operated Boulevard Electronics in Flint, Michigan from 1961 1980 He worked at Germania Town and Country Club from 1980 to 2010. He retired from Germania as a supervisor. While at Germania he obtained bowling coaching certificates at the Bronze and Silver levels. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading. He loved all outdoor activities. Dale served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1963. In addition to his wife, Helen, Dale is survived by four children, Virginia (Kenneth) Koch, David (Lori) Downey, Susan Downey and Julie (Brian) Tunney; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Gertrude Allene Downey; a brother-in-law, Gerald Bellinger; many nieces and nephews; friends, Karen Brown, Terry Hubbard and his many friends in his golf and bowling leagues. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Downey. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Grant Lobb will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Monday from 2:00 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
