Donald “Don” Lee Wilhite of Davison, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, December 30, 2024. Donald Lee Wilhite was born on December 5, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Lee Roy and Laura Mae (Hull) Wilhite. He was a 1969 graduate of Davison High School. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United State Marine Corps on March 3, 1970, serving honorably as a Corporal (E-4) until his discharge on January 6, 1976. Don worked hard his entire life. He was employed as a security guard for Brinks Security and later as an agricultural sprayer at Lapeer Grain, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Don was frank and sarcastic, often expressing his love through jokes hoping to either bring a smile or laughter to the situation. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his true passion was attending farm tractor shows – like a kid in a candy store – tractors made him happy. Don was charming and often thought of himself as the quintessential ladies’ man. He also loved being a father and grandfather, watching movies, and loved a good homecooked meal. Don will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic, for proudly serving his country as a United States Marine, for his wonderful sense of humor, and for creating many wonderful memories and stories.
Surviving are a daughter, Brigitte N. Wilhite and her fiancé, Kelly Stevens of Millington; six grandchildren: Ashley, Kyle, Alexis, Gabrielle, Makayla, and Liam; one great-grandson, Sebastian; two brother, Bob (Kathy) Wilhite; Jerry (Tereasa) Wilhite; a sister-in-law, Donna Wilhite. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends too numerous to mention, but held close to his heart.
He was preceded in death by two children, Donnie Wilhite and Paula Stockton; a brother, Mike Wilhite; a sister, Pam Carey; parents, Lee Roy and Laura Mae Wilhite.
Honoring Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Military honors will take place at a later date under the auspices of the United State Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to any military charity of the donor’s choosing. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the cemetery or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
