Klammer, Donald E. Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away at his residence on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the age of 78 years.
Donald E. Klammer was born on August 10, 1939, in Buena Vista Township to the late Edmund and Edna (Knief) Klammer. He was a graduate of Frankenmuth High School and thereafter attended Delta College where he was enrolled in Stationary Boiler Engineering classes. He was employed by several organizations but most enjoyed his position as Building Services Director at the YMCA (from which he retired after 20+ years of service) and his work at St. Thomas Aquinas. Donalds family was a Founding Member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and he was instrumental in the churchs establishment, having served on its founding committee and as its first Financial Secretary. He loved the outdoors, was fond of his cat and his dog, and greatly enjoyed refurbishing and restoring motor vehicles. Donald was a race fan, often pursuing that interest by racing cars in Edmore, Michigan.
Mr. Klammer is survived by a son and his spouse, Eric and Kelly Klammer; his best friend, Pat Klammer; and a brother and a sister, Ken (Helen) Klammer and Lois (Charlie) Garant. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Anne Klammer; a brother, George (Marcilene Weiss) Klammer; and a brother-in-law, Dwight Wallace.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Edward A. Meyer will officiate with burial in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. and at the Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
