Donald L. Pietz

Donald L. Pietz passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Born October 16, 1932 to Frederick and Muriel Pietz, Donald resided in Saginaw, MI. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School, and continued his education at Albion College where he studied Business. Donald went on to attend the University of Michigan where he obtained a Master of Business Administration Degree. Donald worked several years for First Central Mortgage Corporation prior to starting his own business. Through PICO, he developed numerous rental properties and doctors offices. Donald also taught Business and Real Estate at Central Michigan University, Delta College, and Mid-Michigan Community College. He served for many years on the Board of Directors for Chemical Bank and HealthSource Saginaw. Known best for his strong work ethic, Donald enjoyed some leisure as well. He vacationed in Naples, FL, and at his cottage in Harrison, MI. He loved watching U of M Football. Donald was a strong swimmer, and worked as a lifeguard at Wilson State Park as a young man. He water skied well into his 70s. Donald attended Second Presbyterian Church. Donald was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Jack Pietz; and sister, Margaret Kellogg. He is survived by his children, Charles (Shawn) Pietz of Saginaw; and Catherine (Jeff) Brink of Holland; grandchildren, Logan, Payton, and Lawton Pietz, and Hannah and Christian Brink; a niece and several nephews. Long-time friend, Patricia Schnarr, also survives Donald. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. James Neumann will officiate with private burial. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
