Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre; at the age of 88 years.

The son of the late Edward Fred and Emma Charlotte (Golkowski) Quast, Don was born on December 29, 1934, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School, with the class of 1954. Don was a very proud veteran of the United States Army. While serving, Don was decorated with many medals. He had served in both Germany and Korea. Don married his childhood sweetheart, Delores “Dee” Keller on September 25, 1954, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; she survives him. He was a Skilled Tradesman, welder at General Motors for 34 years of loyal and dedicated service. Don was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working, carpentry, and hunting. He helped maintain the church, fixing or building things. Don’s little piece of heaven was drinking coffee from sunrise to sunset. The role of his lifetime was to be a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that attended many of their life events and activities. Don was a character with a quick wit, and sense of humor.  He will be fondly remembered for helping others, his ability to befriend and communicate with anyone, for truly loving life, living it to the fullest, while creating many beautiful memories and stories. Above all, Don cherished the time spent with his family and loved ones.

Surviving besides his wife of 68 years: Delores “Dee”; are their two sons, two daughters and their spouses: Timothy and Margie Quast, Cheryl Quast, Dorrie and Joseph Batten, Mark and Mary Quast; six grandchildren: Falon Quast, Austin Batten, Allie Batten, Trevor (Jordie) Quast, Devin Quast, Nathan Quast; two great-grandchildren: Tyler Quast, Kain Groden. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his grandson: Joshua Lee Quast, his brother: Raymond Quast, his twin brother: Arnold Quast; his two sisters: Ruth Dockendorf, and Evelyn Lubben.
