Donald "Spook" LaVerne Spencer With immense love and joy, "Spook" was met in heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ and his much beloved son, Donald "BZ" L. Spencer, who preceded him. He was a life-long resident of Zilwaukee, MI. Donald served as a Sargent in the U.S Army. He earned three stars as a paratrooper during the Korean War, one star for each jump into combat over enemy territory. He worked at General Motors for 43 years as a Tool and Die maker. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Jane (Davis) Spencer; daughters Shelley Spencer and Lynn Spencer (Craig Neitzel); daughter-in-law Pamela (Berkobien) Spencer; granddaughters Kersten (Burns) Lausch (Mike Lausch) and Lauren Spencer; brothers Bill Spencer and Joe Spencer; sisters Johanna Reeder, Betty Krohn, and Ann Marie Kendrick. He was predeceased by his brother Monte Spencer Funeral services will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with military honors rendered by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw (P.O. Box 548, Saginaw MI 48606) or Shelter Angles Animal Rescue (P.O. Box 264, Linwood, MI 48634).
