Donald R. Schoof

Schoof, Donald R. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away early Monday, June 29, 2015, at his home. Age 86 years. He was born March 1, 1929, in Richland Township (Iva), Michigan, the son of the late Raymond and Erma (Maas) Schoof. He married Geraldine R. Graham on June 5, 1948; she predeceased him September 3, 2007. He retired from Quality Door and Lumber Company after over 40 years of service. He was a very active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving as an Elder, on its Stewardship Committee, and working the Mid-week Advent and Lenten services. Surviving are three children: Sandra (Dick) Schneider), Ada, Michigan; Marsha (Dennis) Lucht, Sterling Heights; Donald R. Jr. (Linda) Schoof, Charlevoix; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Ruben (Marge) Schoof; one brother-in-law, Donald (Inez) Graham, and one sister-in-law, Edith Schoof; several nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one brother and four sisters, Del Schoof, Alice (Frank) Compeau, Ruth (Warren) Watson, Arlene (Dick) Erskine, and Lois (Ernie) Rant, and by a sister-in-law, Bernice (Charles) Streeter. Don's family extends special thanks to all at SouthernCare Hospice, especially Joseph, for their kindness and care. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss Street. Rev. Charles Buckhahn will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and then at the church on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
