Our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, February 14, 2022. Age 87 years.
Donald was born on July 16, 1934, son of the late Rudolph and Ann (Hirnik) Sparschu, in Saginaw. He married the love of his life, Joyce Zimmer on November 24, 1956. She survives him. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post #439. Donald enjoyed his long career in Tool and Die manufacturing. He had been employed with Brettragers Manufacturing for 25 years and retiring from Saginaw Steering Gear after 20 years of service. He was mechanically gifted and was a Master Handyman. He loved fishing on Lake Charlevoix, it was truly his sanctuary. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was golfing, traveling or camping. Donald was a very loving, supportive father and his family was his world. He will be remembered for having a selfless heart, a giving spirit and a wonderful smile.
Donald will be missed by his loving wife, Joyce; children, Donald J. (Jeannie) Sparschu, Diane Love and Linda (Tim) Buska; grandchildren, Marissa and Dylan Sparschu, Andrew and Jared (Anne) Love, Bradley and Emily Buska; great granddaughter, Madelyn Love; Brother, Gary (Debbie) Sparschu; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jan Zimmer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Donald was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Marvin (Sandy) Sparschu.
A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Military Honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of the United Stated Army and American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the chapel from 10:00a.m. until the time of service.
