Donna J. Arft

Arft, Donna J., Thomas Twp. Passed away at the Cartwright Care Center on Friday, January 18, 2013. With a whisper and a sigh, her earthly time was done. She sped homeward free of the health issues that had plagued her for many years. Born July 12, 1930 to Carl and Florence Seehase, Donna lived in Saginaw all of her life. She graduated from AHHS in 1948. She was employed at Michigan Bell Phone Co as a CSR until her marriage to Lawrence Arft on September 6, 1952. He predeceased her June 22, 2012. Donna is survived by her daughter, Suzan (William) Preuss, and her grandson Cory along with his family, Stacy and William. She also was anxiously awaiting the birth of her second great-grandson, Ryan William Preuss, in February. Prior to her health decline, she and Larry enjoyed traveling. She also loved volunteering with the handicapped children at Handley School before embarking on her second career as a licensed real estate agent. As a realtor, her favorite sales were to assist couples in finding and buying their first homes. She was a long time member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, and enjoyed the fellowship as a homebound parishioner for the last few years. Donna is also survived by a sister Elaine (Bill) Merriam, a sister-in-law MaryEllen Arft, many nieces and nephews, as well as her life-long friend Elaine Middeldorf. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., where the family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to The City Rescue Mission or your favorite charity. The family also would like to thank the exceptional caregivers at the Cartwright Center for their kindness & compassion that they showed toward the entire family. In spite of many years of illness, Donna walked with faith and grace.
