Gofton, Donna L. Hemlock, Michigan Passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at Mid-Michigan Health Gratiot in Alma, at the age of 87 years. Donna L. Beck was born July 8, 1930, in Wheeler Township, Michigan, to George C. J. Beck and Rhoda E. (Carlson) Beck. The family moved to the Hemlock area in 1932 where Donna attended Smith School through the 4th grade and later graduated from Hemlock High School. Immediately following High School, she was hired in to Dow Chemical Company, where she was secretary for Harry OBrien in the Payroll Department. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock, and volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Shop. She enjoyed needlework, especially needlepoint and cross stitch. She also enjoyed genealogy, and traced her familys history to the eighteenth century. She collected Depression Glass. Donna and her husband enjoyed bowling in couples and singles leagues. She loved her cats. In May of 1951, she married Richard L. Gofton, son of Claude and Lois (Leland) Gofton. To this union was born four sons, who survive her: Mike and Cyndy Gofton, St. Charles; Daniel Gofton, St. Charles; David Gofton, Hemlock; Richard and Monica Gofton, Chelsea, Michigan; She is also survived by four grandchildren: Staci Gofton; Kerri and Nick Browning; Sandra Gofton; Natalie Gofton; three great-grandchildren: Nathan Chapin; Rylan Browning; Lydia Browning; three sisters-in-law, Flo Gofton; Pat Beck; Ann Pullman; several nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers: Frances and Bill Michael; Phyllis and Ezra Weber; Mildred and Martin Blumke; Anna and Harold Stenzel; Alvin and Margie Pruitt; Richard Beck; also brothers-in-law, Robert Gofton, Bernie Dickman and Charles Pullman. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Road, Hemlock. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and then at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
